Your pit stop on the trail

Your trail pit stop
2.2 MILES FROM AGUA PIEDRA BRIDGE | FREE PACKAGE HOLDING
ROOMS FROM $89 A NIGHT | DOGS IN SELECT UNITS | COLD BEER | ICE CREAM | GREEN CHILE CHEESEBURGERS
Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort in northern New Mexico is a great midway stop for those doing the Santa Fe to Taos Trail. After a few days on the trail, Sipapu is great for a hot shower in one of our rooms or a hot meal. Want to linger a little longer? Get a riverside cabin and enjoy the Rio Pueblo outside your door.
The only place on the SF2T where you can sleep in a bed, eat hot food, and restock — all in one stop.
Tucked in the Río Pueblo valley along NM-518 in the Carson National Forest, Sipapu Resort welcomes Santa Fe to Taos Trail hikers as a designated resupply point. We’ll hold your mail packages for free, we’re okay with dirty hikers (and groups of them), and we’ve got everything you need to get back on trail feeling human again.
What We Offer
Everything a thru-hiker needs on a zero day — or just an overnight stop.
What are the Directions to Sipapu from Agua Piedras?
Sipapu is 2.2 miles from the Agua Piedra bridge. There is no public transportation to it, and there is no off-road trail. Walk northwest on Hwy 518 to get to the resort. Most of that distance, there will be a fairly large shoulder on the side of the road for you to walk on, but it is not ideal.
How do I Mail My Resupply Package?
- If you mail yourself a package to Sipapu (Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort, 5224 NM-518, Vadito, NM 87579), we will hold it for you. Please arrive before 4 pm to pick up the box or call for directions on where to find the box if you arrive after hours.

Hot Showers. Warm Rooms.
All rooms have hot water and working heat. After days in the backcountry, who wouldn’t want that?
How Much Are Rooms at Sipapu?
A basic hotel room starts at just $89. Have a group? Our cabins sleep up to 14 people.
Cafe & Restaurant
Riverside dining with real meals — not trail food. Burgers, hot drinks, New Mexico staples. Open seasonally; call ahead for current hours.
General Store
Resupply essentials stocked with hikers in mind. See the full list below. Also fuel, snacks, and last-minute gear you forgot or lost on trail.
Are Dogs Allowed?
Yes in select units! Let us know when you book so we can put you in the right room.
Are there laundry facilities?
Unfortunately, no, but it’s something we’re working on.
What else is there to do during a zero day?
The Río Pueblo runs through the property — it’s a great fishing river (New Mexico license required). There’s disc golf, hanging out on your hammock, and some of the best scenery in northern New Mexico right outside your cabin door. Or you can do absolutely nothing, which, after 80-plus miles of trail, is entirely justified.
