Limited quantity available. Free Lessons will not be offered over weekends, peak holiday periods or peak Spring Break. During these periods, regular beginner lessons are available for purchase.

Snow Experience Lesson

New to skiing and snowboarding? This is the lesson for you! Learn the basics of skiing or snowboarding in this FREE 2-hour first-time beginner lesson with the purchase of a lift ticket. To book, select your lift ticket to purchase, then add the FREE never ever lesson.

Important Information

  • Rentals are not included with this free lesson. Rentals must be added online at the time of purchase.
  • Arrive up to 2 hours before your lesson start time to activate your Reloadable Sipapu Card, pick up your rental equipment (if needed), and gear up for your lesson! 
  • Lessons start on time, so please be ready at the check-in area in the beginner area no later than 10 minutes before your lesson start time.
  • Sick and contagious children will not be admitted.
  • We ask that parents remain on Sipapu’s property for the duration of their child’s lesson, in the event of an emergency or illness.

Reservation Policy

Due to the popularity of this program, reservations must be made online. Day-of lessons will not be available for purchase upon arrival. All lessons are subject to availability.

Allow enough time to get fitted for rental equipment, have your child use the restroom, and be dressed ready to ski/ride.

What to Bring

Skis or Snowboard
Fully Functional & properly fitting gear is necessary. Reserve rental equipment here.

Appropriate Clothing/Gear
May include- warm layers, snow jacket, snow pants, neck gaiter, non-fleece mittens/gloves, goggles, and hand warmers. Applying sunscreen and lip balm is highly recommended.

Sunblock & Lip Balm
It helps to apply these on kids before drop-off.

Water and snacks
Hydration and food will help maintain your energy levels during your lesson session.

The program offers tailored instruction for first-time skiers and snowboarders – providing the opportunity to learn fundamental basics within a 2-hour group setting for accelerated skill acquisition and a deeper understanding. Ages 13+ only.

What Level Skiier am I?


  • 1st time skiing/snowboarding
  • Been skiing/snowboarding before, but not ready to load the chairlift
  • Needs to work on stopping consistently
  • Needs a 1st time lesson refresher

Advanced Beginner

  • Green runs remain a bit of a challenge
  • Prefers a slower pace
  • Able to put ski/snowboard on/off with little or no help
  • Can load and unload the chair-lift safely (or may need to learn how to)
  • Can stand up alone after a fall
  • Knows how to stop on demand and may know how to do minor direction changes
  • Has been skiing/snowboarding for 1-3 days or hasn’t been in a long time


  • Feel very confident and know how to comfortably control speed and link turns on green runs
  • Able to take skis or snowboard on and off
  • Can stand up alone after a fall
  • Can load and unload the chair-lift safely
  • Blue runs can be challenging


  • Feel very confident and know how to comfortably control speed and link turns on blue runs
  • Advanced lessons are going to challenge your or your kids on blue terrain and will stay on groomed terrain
  • Lessons start at the base area. Lesson may move over to lifts during the lesson
  • Offered in private lessons only
