Behind the Scenes: Big Improvements, Same Low Pass Price
At Sipapu, we’re all about keeping the good times rolling—with friendly faces, affordable passes, and memories made at 9,255 feet. This past winter brought plenty of fun, from our biggest snow castle in years to crowd-favorite events like the Cardboard Derby, Pond Skim and Corny Closing Days. Families returned, first-timers became lifelong skiers, and kids ruled the slopes (and the castle towers). And while the fun was front and center, we were also making quiet improvements behind the scenes to make your experience even better.
What’s New? A Lot More Than You’d Think.
❄️ Better Snow, Earlier Days
We made a major upgrade to snowmaking on Butterfly, adding five new hydrants to one of our most beloved beginner-friendly runs. The result? Earlier openings and a more consistent snowpack all season long. Our snowmaking team—true winter warriors—now have the tools to lay down snow more efficiently and more effectively, even during those unpredictable New Mexico winters.
💧 More Snow, Less Waste
We also invested in two new snowmaking pumps, giving us better water efficiency and the ability to make snow at maximum capacity when the conditions are right. It’s part of our ongoing mission to be good stewards of our mountain while delivering the best skiing experience we can.
⛷️Smoother Slopes, Even in a Tough Snow Year
Ever notice those buttery morning corduroy days? That’s thanks to our new-to-us snowcat, which joined the fleet this season and took our grooming game to the next level. Groomers worked overtime this winter to keep the slopes in top shape, and the new machine made a real difference.
🎿 Gearing Up for More Smiles
We’re also giving our rental shop gear $50,000 of new equipment to make getting on the mountain even easier for new skiers and snowboarders. Whether you’re a first-timer or just forgot your gear at home, we’ve got you covered with updated equipment that’s reliable, comfortable, and fun to use.
