Fish for FREE June 1 & FREE Fly Fishing Clinics all Summer
Green grass and warm temperatures mean fishing on the Rio Pueblo. As a result, our river is full of trout and waiting for you to come cast your line. Anglers can fish for FREE on Saturday, June 1 as New Mexico celebrates National Boating and Fishing week.
Don’t know the first thing about fishing? Come to our popular weekly series of FREE fly fishing clinics. Our classes are perfect for those new to fly fishing. The clinics cover how to cast, where to fish, and what kinds of lures to use in our Rio Pueblo. Certified instructors from Solitary Angler in Taos teach our classes and will give you the tools to catch your own fresh trout dinner.
New for this year, we’re offering two FREE fly fishing clinics. First, is the “quick start” fly casting class. Held by the pond at Sipapu every Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 am (with the exception of June 8th, July 20th and August 10th), this class covers the very basics of fly fishing. Our second class is monthly. “Intro to Fly Fishing,” will be held June 15, July 13, and August 17, from 8 am until 10:30 am.
We’ll provide beginner rods and reels or bring your own. A fishing license is required, and you can pick one up at our General Store. In addition, reservations are required for both classes and can be made by calling the Solitary Angler directly at 866-502-1700.
For folks wanting a more advanced immersion in fly fishing, the guys at Solitary Angler are offering half-day personalized classes for $125. The “Small Stream” afternoon clinics offer groups of one to four people practice on the Rio Pueblo.
Whether you’re new to fishing or a proficient angler, being on Sipapu’s river is a beautiful way to spend a summer day, so bring your bait and get fishing!
