Why Spring Skiing is One of My Favorite Times to Ski

Nothing can beat a powder day – let’s get that out of the way. I live for those days. But there’s something wonderful about Spring skiing. I’m busy on the mountain from pre-dawn until dusk, but in March, things get a little slower on the mountain. I can get out and enjoy what I call “corn snow,” that grabby, wet snow that makes for a really good time. And, I can ski in a t-shirt, which is a huge bonus.

I tune up my equipment with Zardoz wax, a teflon wax that really glides when the snow is heavy. My favorite run this time of year is the bumps down Upper Gamble – the moguls are a little slushy and slow me down, which I need in the moguls. The consistency is awesome. We’re excited to have folks out from across the Southwest at Sipapu for Spring Break – so excited that we’re staying open every day a week later until March 29, and open weekends until April 5. Looking forward to see you!
