Director of Mountain Operations Chris Bell succinctly describes the process, “Every few years we do a test called a dynamic load test on all our chair lifts. We overload the lift to 110% of its designed load using water barrels to see if it can handle it. We run the lift and test the brakes and safeties. Each of these chairs is holding about 750 pounds of water. If it can handle that, it can handle a normal load. Both lifts we tested this year passed.”
