100 Days to Ski Season
Ski Season is right around the corner! Today marks 100 days until the kick off of ski season for Sipapu Ski Resort, which open for the 2018/2019 season on Saturday, Nov. 17. El Nino is forecast for the 2018/2019 season, which means more powder days! The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is currently predicting El Nino conditions for this winter, which tend to produce greater than average snowfall across the southern Rockies, benefitting New Mexico.
For the past 16 years, Sipapu has been the first resort in New Mexico to open for ski season. On opening day, Sipapu will feature Sierra Nevada with prize baskets for the first skiers in the lift line and beer samples and other giveaways for guests 21 and over. Sipapu also starts its Saturday open mic nights, plus other events“The whole team at Sipapu is excited for ski season and welcoming our guests for the Thanksgiving week,” stated John Paul Bradley, mountain manager of Sipapu Ski Resort. “Our crews are currently getting our mountain ready for winter. We’re busy with lift, trail and snowcat maintenance. We’re ready to get our snow guns in place in our quest to once again be the first resort to open in New Mexico.”
